Our Story
Technology can either propel us forward or create harmful habits.
It keeps us connected, informed, and entertained well into the hours our bodies are meant to be winding down. A quick scroll before bed turns into 45 minutes, finishing that episode turns into watching the next three, and going over that one problem before your exam tomorrow turns into a full on study session at 12am. Before long, you're wide awake, staring at the ceiling and wondering why you can't sleep.
The science was clear enough: light exposure, particularly in the blue and green wavelengths, supresses melatonin and delays the body's natural wind-down. The first solution - stop using screens all together in the hours before bed. In the modern world, many of us would struggle to do all the things we need to just to keep up. Things like studying, working late, keeping up with the news, or putting on a show to finally relax after a long day.
The second option - blue light glasses. I thought I had found the answer, until I tried them - most only blocked a fraction of the light responsible for disrupting sleep. Eventually I found a few glasses that blocked most of the harmful light, but there was one more problem, they were built around looking like ordinary glasses first, and filtering light second. Other than the lenses, there wasn't a single other design feature to keep out as much harmful light as possible.
So the brief became simple, create a pair of glasses that are built around stopping harmful light first, with no compromises.
That meant a lens that blocked the full wavelength of harmful light, 380-560nm, with a wide wraparound design to filter as much light as possible. It meant adding high coverage temples so light can't sneak in from the sides like it does with regular blue light glasses, and a foam gasket to minimise light getting in from below and above the lenses. It meant using materials for their durability and light weight, not their fancy look - to ensure comfort when wearing for hours at a time, and to ensure they last the test of time so you only ever need one pair.
That's Zeroblue.
Every pair is built to do one job and one job only, to protect your eyes from harmful light while you use technology to not only keep up, but thrive.
